On September 7th, The Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) kicked off their annual weekend of activities with a President's Reception. The Mariner's Museum in Newport News hosted the event with over 100 in attendance. Among the guests was Virginia's governor Tim Kaine. The Virginia Mass Choir followed the governor's speech with their upbeat musical selection "Give Him the Praise".
